Morning Musings
Today's blog post is going to be a bit different. I'm going to give you a glimpse into my head. It will be much more personal, so fair warning.
When I woke this morning, I had a song stuck in my head. It wasn't just any song, and it wasn't just the song either. I was remembering a funeral that I attended a few years ago. The deceased young man was a former patient, that I hadn't seen in several years. Since the funeral was held at a church near to us, the office staff and I were able to attended. The song in my head was one we sang as a congregation at the funeral called "I Will Rise" by Chris Tomlin. As I was quietly singing this in the shower, I reminisced. He was my patient before I was as focused on health and wellness. He came to me for aches and pains, for which I helped him, and then he left my care. I didn't know what happened to him since then. I don't know if he got sick. I don't know if he suffered. Those thought were a burden on my heart. There was no way I would ever know if I could have helped him. Nobody knows how long anyone else will live. What I do know, with certainty, is that getting people healthier will allow them to add life to the years they have left. Thanks for the memory. - Dr. Moss
Love
With a certain holiday only a few days away, I thought it might be appropriate to discuss the most powerful motivating force in the universe. Of course, I'm talking about Love. If someone asked you to make a list of what you love, how long would it be until you put yourself on that list? Many of us take ourselves, especially our health, for granted. If someone you loved was having health struggles, you would want only what is best for them. You would encourage them to practice healthy habits. You would want them to only eat nourishing foods and keep the things away from them that you know would make them sick. Treat yourself with the same loving care.
To quote the famous author, Og Mandino: “And most of all I will love myself. For when I do I will zealously inspect all things which enter my body, my mind, my soul, and my heart."
Charles Poliquin is a world-famous strength and performance coach. His article on the "myth of discipline" is one of my favorites.
Superbowl Doc
I have heard the Superbowl referred to as the largest secular holiday in the US. This year's game was filled with lots of stories of the players and coaches. One of the stories you might not have heard of is that of the team Chiropractor. Here is a story of the team Chiropractor for this year's world champions.
